Ghost Town: Harrisville, NJ

The New Jersey Pine Barrens are notorious for the Jersey Devil and numerous ghost towns. One ghost town of the recent past is in Harrisville, NJ. It survived only a short time (from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s), but the milling and factory town itself had been inhabited under various names since the 1700s. It was finally abandoned around 1914, when a forest fire swept through the town and destroyed almost everything, except for the few remaining brick ruins of the paper mill.
